Irina- Kalina Goudeva

The internationally renowned double bassist, singer and interdisciplinary performer, IRINA- KALINA GOUDEVA (www.ikana.info) studied double bass with Todor Toshev at the Sofia State Conservatory and with Franco Petracchi at the Geneva Conservatory of Music (receiving the First Virtuoso Prize in 1993).

Former principal player in different orchestras among which Royal Danish Theatre and Aalborg Symphony Orchestra in Denmark; Orchestre de chambre de Neuchâtel, and others, Ms. Goudeva also finds a great inspiration in performing chamber music. She collaborates with many ensembles such as Ensemble Modern, Athelas Sinfonietta, Ars Nova, Quinteto del Fuego, duo Concordis, trio Acordbass, Ensemble MidtVest, Esbjerg Ensemble, Danish Chamber Players, Contrechamps, Musica Vitae and others. Since 1998 she is a solo bass player at the Contemporanea Interactive Art Ensemble in Copenhagen.

Possessing an eclectic nature, she is inspired to experiment with crossovers between different genres of music and with great intensity devoted herself to music from the Renaissance and Baroque to modern tango, jazz and electro acoustic music.

Ms. Goudeva’s great interest and passion for contemporary music, art and theatre led to her collaboration with a large number of creators/composers such as: P. Boulez, G. Kurtag, H. Lachenmann, H. Holliger, E. Pomarico, P. A.Valade, C. Lippe, I. Frounberg, Fuzzy, E.C. de Chizy, P. Jodlowski, E. Kanding, M. Olsen, L. Tjørnhøj, M. Christensen, W. Siegel, B. Jaeger, K. Helweg, L. Graugaard, L. Hegaard, R. Yatzkan, J. Holmen, J. Tsenova, M. Dresser and others, who, together, have written more than 40 pieces for her.

She has won several international and national competitions (Special Prize of the Jury “G. Bottesini”, Parma, Italy; 1st Prize “Sv. Obretenov” Provadia, Bulgaria; 1st Prize, “St. Sougarev” Kjustendil, Bulgaria) and has performed as a soloist in Europe/Scandinavia, Australia, South America, Cuba, and the USA. She has recorded CDs with numerous labels including NAXOS Classical Music; DACAPO and Wilhelm and Hansen, both in Denmark; Kadima Collective in Israel; Gallo, Fidesson and GV Records in Switzerland, and others. In 2007 Irina-Kalina founded her Ikana Art Studio for Music & Theatre Performances. She is also the president and artistic director of Concordia Festival in Switzerland, Denmark and Bulgaria (www.concordiafestival.com).
